Virou.gr - Shorten URLs and help reduce hunger

Virou.gr (which in portuguese means turned into grams) is an URL shortener with a heart: It shortens links and helps to eliminate hunger at the same time.

You don't need to fill anything out, or provide any bank details. Just shorten a URL and the magic happens on it’s own. For each character decreased by virou.gr, Carrefour will donate 1 gram (0.03 ounce) of food to the Brazilian Red Cross charity project. It’s quick, simple, and no charge to you. So go ahead! Shorten, donate and tell your friends!

Virou.gr  (created by F/Nazca S&S for Carrefour Brazil to help the brazilian RedCross)

Thoughts about Advertising and "Flash of Genius"

No polemics here. Just a thought.
Tonight I've watched a movie that made me think of my business. Advertising.

Get a look at this movie scene. Dr Robert Kearns, the inventor of the intermittent windshield whiper makes use of Charles Dickens "A Tale of Two Cities" to illustrate patent novelty during his cross-examination with the Ford's Defendant Expert Witness on court.

Haven't seen this movie? You should.

It made me think of those recurrent accusations of stolen ideas as we hear about so often. And sometimes too much.
Of course it's true in some cases, but i've always thought that in others we just rush on pointing our fingers on others work. Based on things we've already seen, but not put together as we see.
We sometimes judge as being a copy, a great new concept, just because of the use of "tools" already seen, or known.

As we shall give the merit to the great innovative ideas, we also shall give the merit to the great ideas created using common tools but "arranged in a new pattern".

Save as .wwf and save a tree

This is the kind of idea I really love, admire and wish to have had.
Simple and smart. A new green file format has been created.
The WWF format is a PDF that cannot be printed out. It’s a simple way to avoid unnecessary printing. So here’s your chance to save trees and help the environment. Decide for yourself which documents don't need printing out – then simply save them as WWF.

Stampy Digital Camera by Jinhee Kim

(download)

Why would you want a digital camera that doubles up as a rubber stamp? Why? The answer is simple….just for fun! As of now digicams offer a variety of options and modes (sepia, landscape etc.) to take pictures and edit them. Stampy Digital Camera gives you the option of creating a rubber-stamp version of your photograph, so that you stamp it onto any sheet of paper or surface. If you ask me, the best way to tweak this concept will be to have it stamp out pictures in multi colors instead of the single red. What do you think?
